president Biden announced that Wednesday that he will implement a series of executive measures focused on combating climate change.

Biden’s executive actions come after Sen. Joe Manchin, DW.Va., reportedly said he would not support a package that includes provisions on energy and climate before the midterm elections, with his spokesman telling Fox News Digital that Manchin “wants to avoid steps to do things that fuel the inflationary fires.”

Executive actions include trying to “protect communities from extreme heat and dangerous climate impacts,” including $2.3 billion in funding for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities program in 2022, which will Designed to help communities “grow resilience to heat waves, droughts, wildfires, floods, hurricanes and other hazards by preparing for a disaster,” the White House said.

Biden’s executive actions also include efforts to reduce cooling costs for communities suffering from extreme heat, as the White House issues guidance that will help states, tribes and territories fund community cooling centers and help people in their communities gain access to cooling devices.
