Welcome to the weekend. Whether you’re working today or you’re free, we have a range of opportunities that might interest you. Most of these have been big hits throughout the week, which we’re resurfacing for you, although we’ve wrapped up some deals that have surfaced more recently. In terms of what to look forward to The edge, Samsung’s Unpacked event is happening this week. It’s all happening on Wednesday 10th August and based on rumours, we’re expecting new foldable phones and other gadgets as well as plenty of pre-order offers. Until then.
In the Epic Games Store on PCYou can play so much Far cry 6 how you fit into this weekend. The storefront is offering an extended free trial of Ubisoft’s latest open-world first-person shooter. offers Far cry 6 aren’t too uncommon these days (although the PC version offers fewer discounts than the console versions), and yet it’s really hard to beat the current cost: $0.00. The trial version of the game is also available Xbox and PlayStation Player. You do not need any PlayStation console subscription to access the free trial. On Xbox, however, you’ll need Xbox Live Gold (or the modern equivalent, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate).
We’re usually happy to provide context about the listings we promote so you can make an informed purchase. This is not so necessary for a freebie. It’s worth mentioning Far cry 6 delivers more of the great feel of combat and exploration. In Diego Arguello’s analysis of the game’s history, Far cry 6 is one of the few AAA games in Latin America, although its narrative and handling of cultural portrayals are hit or miss. If you can look past that, it could be a good use of your free time this weekend.
If you’re planning to go on vacation this summer or just want to loaf around the house with a few books, the latest Kindle Paperwhite might be the perfect gadget to add to your repertoire. The Beats Fit Pro and Studio Buds have each returned to their Prime Day prices. Starting with the Fit Pro, those wireless buds with wingtips to stay in your ears during runs and other workouts are back $179.99 ($20 off) at Amazon. Not only are they great workout companions, but they have active noise cancellation (ANC), a transparency mode that lets you hear the sounds around you, and they can last up to six hours per charge with ANC. Read our review.
The Studio Buds are $99.99 ($50 off at Amazon) and also offer ANC and a transparency mode. Apple claims you’ll get up to eight hours of listening time per charge without ANC. My colleague Chris Welch said in his review that the ANC on the Studio Buds is worse than on the Fit Pro. Both the Fit Pro and Studio Buds include a charging case with a USB-C connector, although it’s important to note that neither option supports wireless charging. Read our review.
