That Next generation Ford Mustang will be unveiled in September, but now there’s also a new version of the original pony car.

Famous custom car maker Ringbrothers has unveiled an all-new vehicle based on the 1964.5 Mustang Convertible that it was built for a customer.

Well it still has the wheel center caps from the original car but everything else was custom made.

Using CAD data, the team actually increased the body by an inch in length and width and paired it with the modern, in-house designed chassis they use on many of their projects.

At first glance, it looks like a slightly modified version of the car from the outside, while the interior is a more modern take on the original, although it retains the low-back seats that were popular at the time.

“The customer was very involved in the process and insisted on maintaining a subtle, stock-like appearance,” said Ringbrothers co-owner Mike Ring.

“Everything was based on the Mustang’s original design, but we sharpened the lines and added a number of 3D printed details to make it truly unique.”

Things are much more modern underneath the surface. The car is powered by the same 5.0-liter V8 in the current Mustang and uses a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Another touch of the 21st century is independent rear suspension, which the factory Mustang didn’t get until the latest model, released in 2015.
