Do you remember Bastion? He was a robot attack character in over watch and its recently released free-to-play sequel, surveillance 2. However, if you’ve been playing Blizzard’s character shooter for the past ten days, you’ll have noticed that the dangerous robot is er… missing. In fact, Bastion has been out of the game longer than it has been in the game at this point. Luckily, Blizzard has announced that Bastion, as well as Torbjorn and a recently removed map, will all return to the game on October 25th. At that point, they will be out of the game twice as long as they were in it.

surveillance 2 didn’t have a great start. The hero shooter launched on October 4th on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC. And almost immediately he encountered server problems caused by DDoS attacks. Then there were problems with the need for a cell phone, problems inviting friends into your party, longer downtimes, and more. It was a big mess!

And then on October 10th, after players discovered some nasty tricks that allowed infinite and stacked abilities, Bastion was completely removed from the game. The dwarven warrior and turret lover Torbjorn has also been removed, but only from competitive play. At the time, Blizzard said the characters were taking a “quick trip” back to the garage to make some fixes. 10 days later…they still aren’t back. But at least we know when they will return. And players will have to wait another five days for Bastion and Torbjorn to return October 25. The removal of characters from live service games isn’t entirely unprecedented, of course, but they don’t usually happen right at launch and typically don’t last that long.

Also, Blizzard announced yesterday that it will now be removed the Junkertown map surveillance 2 due to an error that was causedGraphics performance issues” during the game. It is reported that people may cause these problems on purpose. So surveillance 2 Currently, one map and two characters are down, one of which has disappeared entirely. You can’t even play in practice mode or against bots with Bastion. You can’t even look at your cosmetics for the robot. It’s like it never existed, no doubt a dream for some players.

Despite these issues, Blizzard says that Overwatch 2 has reached 25 million players across all platforms. It’s an impressive number, especially compared to the first game, but the sequel is also free and available on twice as many platforms from the get-go.

While players won’t be able to enjoy Bastion, Torb, or Junkertown just yet, if you log in this weekend, it’ll be the start of the Double XP event that Blizzard used as an excuse for the game’s bumpy start.
