The latest Pokémon Scarlet & Violet trailer has just come out, and it’s definitely a celebratory one. Featuring Ed Sheeran’s brand new song Celestial and showcasing multiple Pokémon, places, and people we’ve already meant, it feels like we are at last on the home route.
There weren’t many new details here, other than that The Pokémon Company and Game Freak managed to say something with not very much. Around 2:30 we get a shot of Arven and her Pokémon trainer looking at a rather elaborate sketch of what looks like a Donphan, the evolution of Phanpy. Although it looks something else. The trailer then cuts to a close-up of what appears to be a giant Pokemon that matches the sketch exactly.
The trailer cuts back to a sketchbook with a again different a kind of donphan sketch. What’s going on here? Then we see a much more futuristic looking one in the flesh – presumably just his face. This thematization of past and future now seems very likely.
Is the trailer more detailed? nope But the official website does. The older looking creature is known as the Great Tusk (exclusive to Scarlet), and the metallic one is known as Iron Treads (exclusive to Violet). Unusual names for Pokémon, we find. We wonder what Game Freak is up to…
Arven is holding a book in the trailer, and that book depends on which version of the game you have. You get the Scarlet Book in Pokémon Scarlet and the Violet Book in Pokémon Violet. These books contain sketches and photos of Great Tusk, Iron Treads, and various other unidentified creatures.
Now that was a sneaky little joke! It sounds like there’s something new and exciting to discover in the Paldea region, and we’re going to find out very soon – on November 18th!
