Tesla Semi could build an awesome electric camper based on the specs released by Tesla this week and how incredible these renders of the electric truck look like as a camper.
There is something about the idea of a fully electric and solar powered motorhome that is extremely appealing to many people.
During the day you drive with zero emissions and you can power your life with the same battery pack that moves you. You can charge at night to do it all over again the next day.
Solar power also allows you to have the entire experience off-grid.
There are a few electric motorhome projects that aim to offer customers this type of experience, but most of them are still in development concept stage or have a very limited range.
We recently reported on him the new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter They have impressive specs to potentially allow for an electric “vanlife,” but what if you need or want something bigger?
Tesla Semi could be an interesting platform for an electric motorhome.
The team of Jowuan interior manufacturer, thought this while watching the unveiling of the production version of the Tesla Semi this week, and decided to build renders of what a Tesla Semi camper might look like:
That looks pretty badass and the electric truck as specs to back up that look.
The biggest problem with most electric RV projects these days is that they have limited range. For example, Winnebago built his own full electric RV, but it only has 125 miles of range.
With the unveiling of the production version this week, Tesla confirmed that the Tesla Semi has a battery with around 900 kWh and can travel more than 500 miles on a full charge totaling 82,000 lbs.
And the Tesla Semi would likely achieve even greater range as an RV, as it would likely be lighter than 82,000 lbs. Some of the heaviest RVs over 40 feet in length today rarely exceed 50,000 pounds. Tesla Semi is heavier than most Class 8 trucks, but there should be a way to build an RV on the platform and keep the weight under 70,000 pounds, which should result in efficiency gains.
You could probably drive over 600 miles in a single day in a Tesla Semi RV without charging, then charge overnight. They could cover impressive distances in just a few days. All without emissions.
Jowua also produced an interior rendering of their vision of a Tesla Semi RV:
It would likely require some collaboration from Tesla, but there should be a way to power the RV’s living functions with the powertrain’s battery pack. They add some deployable solar panels when you’ve been parked and in business for a long time.
If Tesla doesn’t, I’m sure other companies will choose to build electric camper vans based on the Tesla Semi – not unlike what Cyberlandr tries the Tesla Cybertruck.
Along the same lines, famed DJ and music producer Deadmau5 said he would Buy a Tesla Semi and turn it into a traveling music studio.
