December 23, 7:45 p.m
As temperatures continue to rise we expect to return to near normal operations tomorrow 27th December. 23. Please ensure you continue to check with your airlines before heading to the airport and contact them directly to inquire about any delays, cancellations or rebookings.
December 23, 3:40 p.m
Another runway (16R) is now open…that makes 2 (of 3)! Airlines are working hard to get their planes out safely. We appreciate all the teams that help in these difficult conditions. As always, remember to check with your airline before heading to the airport!
December 23, 11:25 am
We continue to keep the runway (16L) and adjacent taxiways clear while our snow crews de-ice and ensure safety. We saw some takeoffs/landings as flight operations ebbed and flowed. We will be working on more runways as the weather gets warmer and better. Please be sure to check with your airline.

Crews continue to work to clear the airfield of ice. Many thanks to our teams for the safety!
December 23, 7 a.m
Currently one runway (16L) is open after being de-iced. Operations are restricted and will continue to be weather dependent as safety always comes first. Travelers should continue to monitor their flights and stay in touch with airlines.
December 23, 5 a.m
The runways are currently closed indefinitely due to freezing rain and temperatures. Crews are working to de-ice the surfaces as quickly and safely as possible. Safety is the top priority before the runways can reopen. Be sure to check with your airlines for further updates on your particular flight.
December 22, 5 p.m
We are closely monitoring the forecast. We are prepared for the coming winter weather. SEA taxiways and runways were treated with deicer in anticipation of cold weather and possible freezing rain. Check with your airline for specific flight information.

There are currently long queues at TSA security checkpoints. Please arrive at the airport early and check the flySEA app for the latest checkpoint wait times. The staff will direct you to the fastest line. If you are part of a Trusted Traveler program, please use your dedicated lane and checkpoint for screening. Lines can extend into the parking garage if necessary, so prepare for cold temperatures while you wait.

Brrr – it’s cold out there! Accordingly, the temperatures at the SEA should continue to fall National Weather Service. The areas on the airfield are currently bare and wet. We continue to monitor the weather and treat surfaces for ice.

The ground on SEA is currently wet and bare but we continue to monitor the forecast. As a reminder, airlines manage their own flight schedules and aircraft de-icing operations (if required). So check with them about any changes or cancellations to your particular flight.

No snow on the ground but expected later in the day. De-icing work is currently underway. Please check with your airline for flight schedule changes or cancellations as airlines have canceled a number of flights for today in advance.

SEA Airport is open and operational without disrupting operations. The 8th floor of the parking garage has been treated and can be used!
