How to share your Google Maps location on an iPhone, iPad, Android or web browser

  • Go to your Google Maps app (make sure your app is updated to the latest version) or sign in to Google Maps at Google.com/maps
  • Tap your profile picture in the top right
  • click share location
  • Tap the Share Location button.
  • In the first row you see, select the Period You share your location. If you don’t want to share your location indefinitely, make sure you set a time frame when you’ll be out and then expire (e.g. “for 1 hour” or “until you turn this off”).
  • in the next row, Select the people you want to share your location with. Note: Anyone with the link you send via email or text can see your real-time name, photo, and location.
  • click Share button
  • Your contact will receive an email or SMS with a link. Once clicked, your contact can view your location on a Google map on their device.

How to stop sharing your location on an iPhone, iPad, Android or web browser

  • In the bottom row you will see the contact with whom you have shared your location
  • Click on this line
  • In the next menu, on the second line, click “Just” to stop location sharing.

Yes, you can share your Google Maps location with someone who doesn’t have a Google account. The steps to do this are just a little different.

  • On your mobile device or tablet, open the Google Maps apartment
  • Tap yours Profile picture and go to share location
  • click share location
  • click More options
  • AND Share with a link The menu is displayed. press the “Share” Button
  • Beat Copy to copy your location sharing link
  • Paste this link into an email, text message or other messaging app and send it to the person you want to share your location with.
